Six reasons to use metal in your project

Metal is a highly versatile material. With solutions in steel and aluminium, you gain access to a material that combines design freedom, durability, and documented technical properties - without compromising on either aesthetics or acoustics.

We have said it since 1951, and we will keep saying it - metal is a fantastic material!

Below, we have gathered six reasons why you should choose an acoustic metal solution, whether for the office, the meeting room, or your home.

1. Excellent durability and minimal maintenance

Our solutions are made of steel, known for its robust nature. In fact, our acoustic solutions have a documented lifespan of more than 50 years.

See our Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) here.

In addition to the long lifespan, our acoustic wall panels are also resistant to impact and wear, keeping the surface intact and visually uniform year after year.

The simple carrier rail and robust material also ensure the wall panel can be mounted and dismounted countless times if a new location is desired.

2. Circular and recyclable material

Steel is a fully recyclable material that can be reused again and again without losing quality. Our wall solutions also have a long lifespan, reducing the need for replacement and saving resources over time.

Since steel can be recycled repeatedly without losing its natural properties, there is significant CO₂ savings when using recycled instead of newly extracted material.

At DAMPA, we work with both aluminium and steel. As an alternative to our standard material, we offer solutions with 75% post-consumer aluminium or SSAB Zero Steel, where it is possible to save up to 59% CO₂ per kg of steel or aluminium compared to our standard material.

3. Architectural and design freedom

Metal can be shaped, perforated, and coated in countless variations, making it possible to create unique design expressions, add texture, and play with reflections that give the space an extra dimension.

Whether you want a raw look or a colourful coated surface, we can work together to find the right solution for you.

We can coat in all RAL and NCS colours and print with digital print, giving you exactly the look you want – whether colours, images, patterns, or logos – the only limit is your imagination.

Our webshop shows our three standard colours. If you are interested in another colour or a specific print, send us an email at hello@dampa.dk.

Due to the robust surface and many design possibilities, it is also possible to recoat an older solution – whether ceiling or wall – to match a new style.

We assisted with this at Ground Fitness, where after an extensive renovation, their existing wall panels in galvanised clear lacquer were recoated to match their new darker style.

4. Effective acoustics

There is still a myth that metal is unsuitable for acoustic purposes – but in practice, this is not true.

By combining a perforated metal plate with acoustic felt and possibly additional sound-absorbing material behind it, we can activate three absorbers: the porous absorber, the membrane absorber, and the resonance absorber.

Our acoustic wall panels are classified as acoustic class A to improve acoustics as effectively as possible.

This makes metal an obvious choice in rooms where acoustics are crucial, such as classrooms, offices, auditoriums, healthcare facilities, or private homes where acoustic comfort is essential for function and well-being.

5. Easy-to-clean wall panels

Metal is easy to clean - even in environments with strict hygiene requirements. The material withstands daily wiping, and surfaces remain intact and resistant to wear and discolouration. We recommend a damp, almost dry, cloth for cleaning wall panels.

This makes metal solutions an ideal choice for healthcare buildings, laboratories, kitchens, and other areas where hygiene is a priority.

6. High fire safety

Metal is a non-combustible material and does not contribute to fire development. It does not melt at normal fire temperatures and does not release toxic fumes.

This is crucial in buildings with strict fire safety and personal safety requirements, such as hospitals, nursing homes, and public institutions.

Our wall panels are classified in fire class B-s1, d0, ensuring a high level of fire safety and security for both building users and rescue services in case of fire.

Form follows function philosophy

With DAMPA’s metal solutions, you get more than just an ordinary wall solution. Through our “form follows function” philosophy, all our acoustic solutions are designed to contribute to a better indoor climate.
